The MyNextbase Connect App links your Nextbase dash cam & smartphone. It’s designed to work with all the Nextbase dash cam models (other than 122 & 222). The app is super helpful for managing your dash cam’s footage from your pocket, and it lets you access additional features as well.

The app gives a bunch of functionality that isn’t accessible through the dash cam alone. The Emergency SOS feature specifically, which can be a lifesaver if you take the time to set it up. It allows your phone to alert emergency services using your dash cams GPS location.

How to setup the MyNextbase Connect app on your phone

For iOS Users

1. Download: Install MyNextbase Connect app from the Apple App Store. Make sure your iOS device is running an updated version of its operating system for compatibility.
2. Open the App: Once installed, open the MyNextbase Connect app. Tap the “Dash Cam” button at the bottom, then “Connect Dash Cam.”
3. Pair Your Dash Cam: Wait for your specific dash cam model number to display, ensuring it matches the number on your device. When it does, press to connect.
4. Bluetooth Pairing: A prompt for a Bluetooth pairing request will appear on your phone, displaying a code also visible on your Dash Cam screen. Click on “Pair” to continue.
5. Wi-Fi Connection: After pairing, your phone will attempt to connect to your Dash Cam via Wi-Fi to check for firmware updates. When prompted, press “Join” to start connecting.
6. Firmware Check: The app will verify the firmware status of your Dash Cam. If an update is necessary, tap “Update Firmware.” If your device is already up-to-date, select “Continue.”
7. Accessing Files: Post-update, you’ll be directed to a list of video files stored on your Dash Cam’s SD card. View, manage, or download recordings from here as needed.

For Android Users

1. Get from Google Play Store: Locate the MyNextbase Connect app on the Google Play Store and download it. Make sure your Android device is updated to the latest OS version for smooth installation and operation.
2. Launch the App: Open the MyNextbase Connect app post-installation. Select the “Dash Cam” button at the bottom of the screen and tap “Connect Dash Cam.”
3. Connect: Your Nextbase dash cam model should appear on the screen, verify the serial number against the one on your dash cam. Tap your model to proceed.
4. Bluetooth Connection: A Bluetooth pairing request will pop up on your phone. Confirm that the code matches the one on your Dash Cam screen, then tap “Pair.”
5. Wi-Fi Setup: Following successful pairing, your device will try connecting to the Dash Cam via Wi-Fi for firmware verification. Disconnect any VPNs for uninterrupted connectivity. Tap on “Join” when you’re prompted.
6. Firmware Update: The app will then check your Dash Cam’s firmware. If needed, update your firmware. If no update is required, simply hit “Continue.”
7. Viewing Files: You’ll be taken to the dash cam file list, displaying all videos on the SD card.

Safety Feature: Emergency SOS

The emergency SOS feature is pretty important for anyone using Nextbase dash cams, especially the Nextbase 322GW models and up. The SOS feature calls for help if you’re ever in an accident and can’t do it on your own. Here’s how to use it.

How to Set Up Emergency SOS

1. Find the SOS Option: First, open the MyNextbase Connect app on your phone. Look for ‘Emergency SOS’ and press it.
2. Start the Setup: The app will show you how to get things rolling. Click start to begin.
3. Your Info: You’ll have to type in some stuff about yourself, like your name, birthday, and where you live.
4. Providing Essential Medical Detail (optional): Next, add medical info like what blood type you have, if you’re allergic to anything, what health problems you’ve got, or meds you take. This is so the medical team knows right off the bat how to take care of you best.
5. Who to Call in a Crisis: Put in the contact info of someone who should be called if something bad happens, like a family member.
6. Car Details: You also need to add info about your car: make, model, color, and license plate number to help help paramedics find you faster.
7. Double-Check Everything: After you fill everything out, check it all again to make sure there are no mistakes.
8. Finish Up: If all the info looks good, you’re set! Just hit ‘Complete’ or ‘Finish.’ Now, if you’re in a bad wreck or something, your Dash Cam sends out an SOS with all this info.
9. Test Run: If you can, do a test run to make sure it all works right. Just follow the steps the app gives you.
