MyNextbase Player is a dash cam editing software program for your computer. Whether you’re trying to save important clips, make changes & edit your videos, or share them with other people, MyNextbase Player is the go-to tool for anyone with a Nextbase dash cam.

MyNextbase Cloud is a big plus because it lets you share your dash cam videos without losing any quality. When you send a video over the internet, the quality drops and it’s not as clear. The cloud keeps your videos looking sharp and clear, just like they do on your dash cam.

This article is will give you easy instructions for MyNextbase Player and MyNextbase Cloud so you can start watching and sharing your dash cam videos ASAP.

How to download MyNextbase player

1. Download MyNextbase Player from the Nextbase website here.
2. Look for the download link that matches your computer (Windows or Mac).
3. Open it and it’ll walk you through the setup process.
4. You’ll see the MyNextbase Player icon on your desktop or in your applications folder. Double-click it to open.

How to view Nextbase footage using MyNextbase Player

1. Connect Your dash cam to your computer.
2. Grab the USB cable that came with your dash camera. Connect one end to the dash cam and the other end to your computer’s USB port. Make sure you’re plugging the cable into the devide itself, not into any mounts or other accessories.
3. Turn on your device. You should see a “PC Connection” option pop up on its screen.
4. In MyNextbase Player, you’ll see an option that says “Add Video”. This lets your computer see the videos stored on your dash cam. Click it.
5. After a moment, your computer will recognize the dash cam as a new drive, like a USB stick. Find it under “My Computer” on Windows or on your desktop if you’re using a Mac.
6. Open it and look for a folder called DCIM, this is where your videos are saved.
7. Select the video files you want to view or edit. Click “Open” to add them to MyNextbase Player.

How do I edit my Nextbase footage? Edit your Nextbase footage by using MyNextbase Player. In the main menu you’ll find the option to trim your videos, add filters or effects, and save your your edited clips where ever you want.

How to share videos with MyNextbase Player and MyNextbase Cloud

Share your videos in their original forms with MyNextbase cloud, here’s how to upload Nextbase footage to the cloud:

1. Select the video clip you wish to share by clicking on it.
2. Look for the share icon, which looks like three circles interconnected by lines. Click on it.
3. A few options will pop up after you click the share icon. Select ‘MyNextbase Cloud’ to make sure your video stays high-quality when it’s shared.
4. You’ll be prompted to enter your email address, this is where you’ll receive your shareable link.
5. Decide if you want to submit the footage to Nextbase. It’s up to you and depends on whether you think Nextbase should see this clip or not.
6. Optional: Consider adding password protection. If you choose to use this feature, the recipient will need the password you set here to view the video. It adds an extra layer of security if your footage is sensitive.
7. Select ‘Start Upload’ to begin the process. Upload time can vary based on the video size and your internet speed.
8. Once the upload’s complete you’ll get an email with the download link. Copy the link and share it with whoever you want.

The files you upload to MyNextbase Cloud remain available for download for 30 days and are permanently deleted after that. But password protected files can only be seen by you and the people you share it with.

Aside from sharing via MyNextbase Cloud, you also have the option to upload your videos directly to YouTube using MyNextbase Player. Just select the YouTube option instead of MyNextbase Cloud after clicking the share icon and follow the prompts to upload your video.

What is Nextbase Cloud?

MyNextbase Cloud is a cloud storage platform where Nextbase users can upload their dash cam footage without the typical compression seen in other sharing methods, which often lower video quality.

As we just went over, you can use it to share clips with friend but it has a ton of other features too. The main benefits of MyNextbase Cloud are:

How to update your Nextbase dash cam firmware with MyNextbase Player

Update your dash cam software from the MyNextbase Player interface by following these steps:

1. Connect Your Dash Cam: Using the USB cable that came with your product, connect your dash cam to your computer. Make sure your computer is already running the MyNextbase Player.
2. Select the Right Mode on Your Dash Cam: Upon connection, your dash cam should display three options: “Access Files,” “Power On,” and “Firmware Update.”
3. Initiate the Update on MyNextbase Player: On your computer, in the MyNextbase Player interface, click the “Update Dash Cam” button. If your firmware is already up-to-date, you’ll receive a notification stating that no update is available.
4. Install Available Updates: If there is an update available, you will have the option to select “Install Update.” Click on this, and the MyNextbase Player will handle the rest. The firmware update will be downloaded and installed onto your device.
5. Wait for the Installation to Complete: The firmware update process may take a few minutes. During this time, ensure your dash cam remains connected to your computer. Do not turn off either device as this might interrupt the update process.
6. Restart Your Dash Cam: After the update, your dashboard camera might restart automatically. If it doesn’t, safely disconnect it from your computer and restart the Dash Cam to ensure the new firmware is fully installed.
