Redtiger F17 3-Channel Dash Cam Review

I recently got the Redtiger F17 dash cam and I’m here to give my $0.02 based on my experience using it over the last month.

As someone who drives regularly for both work and personal reasons, having a 3-Channel dash cam in my vehicle is the next level security I’ve been looking for. I’ve been pretty impressed by some features while annoyed by others.

Let’s get into what I liked, what I didn’t, and the most notable features that make this one of the leading 3-Channel dash cams on the market.

What I Liked

High Quality 3-Channel Video Footage

The #1 reason I opted for the Redtiger F17 is that it offers high definition 3-channel video recording. This means it has separate cameras to capture footage of the road ahead, the interior cabin, and the rear.

It’s hard to downplay how good the video quality is on all three of the cameras. Just like we mentioned on our best 3-channel dash cam post, the F17 has the best video quality out of any three way dash camera on the market. It’s that good.

The front and interior cameras record in sharp 2160p 4K, while the rear records in 1080p. This provides me with a comprehensive view of my driving environment, capturing any incidents from multiple angles.

Takeaway: I’ve found the video quality of all of the cameras to be superb, with crisp and clear footage day or night.

Dual 4K Cameras for Front and Interior Views

I really appreciate having the dual 4K camera setup, with one camera facing forward to capture the road and traffic ahead, and the other recording inside the cabin.

This gives me crystal clear footage of not only what’s happening in front of me, but also what’s going on with any passengers I may have. The high resolution 2160p video provides all the details I could need in case I ever have to reference footage for insurance purposes.

Separate Rear View Camera

Having a third camera dedicated to recording the rear view is a huge bonus in my opinion. I’ve used dash cams previously that only face forward, but it’s reassuring to also have a camera capturing behind me. This provides additional context and evidence if I were to get rear-ended or have any incident occur behind my vehicle. The 1080p video from the rear is perfectly adequate.

Triple Parking Monitor Support

A major advantage of choosing a 3-channel dash cam like the Redtiger F17 is that it can keep recording even when the car is parked. Using the built-in parking mode the cameras automatically switch & start recording if any motion or impact is detected, keeping your vehicle protected at all times. The F17 does this for the front, interior, and rear cameras, providing 24/7 security.

Affordable Price Point

Given the exceptional video quality and features, I feel the Redtiger F17 provides excellent value. It costs significantly less than many competitor dash cams with similar capabilities. For budget-focused buyers who still want robust features and multi-camera recording, the F17 hits a nice sweet spot.

What I Didn't Like

Now let’s talk about a couple areas for improvement that I saw during my time with the Redtiger F17 dash cam:

Tricky Initial Installation

I’m pretty experienced with installing & properly wiring dash cams but it still took me a little bit of time to get the Redtiger F17 fully set up in my car. Running the front wires to the rear camera then wiring it all to my car’s power was somewhat challenging.

I’d recommend following the instructions closely or reading our beginners guide on how to install a dash cam. If you have a more technologically inclined friend… have them help you if you’re struggling during installation.

Unstable Mount

While the front camera mount holds firmly to the windshield without an issue, I noticed my rear camera mount was a little flimsy. It could be an issue with my mount specifically as opposed to a flaw in the design, but it’s worth mentioning. I had to be careful about positioning my rear camera so that opening and closing my trunk wouldn’t bump it out of place, it was fairly annoying to deal with everyday.

Main Standout Features

Beyond what I already touched on, some of the other features that stood out about this dash cam were:

Triple Camera Parking Mode Monitoring & Night Vision

As mentioned earlier, I love that the F17 offers parking mode monitoring from all its cameras. The sensors detect motion or collisions, triggering video recording even when the car is parked and I’m not driving. This provides security and captures any parking lot mishaps.

Having night vision capability on both the forward and rearward cameras is clutch. The F17 uses Sony sensors and infra-red tech to allow clear recordings even in low light conditions. I feel much safer driving at night knowing the dash cam can still capture crisp footage.

Super Capacitor > Dash Cam Battery

Rather than a traditional battery, the F17 uses a super capacitor to provide power. This allows it to withstand extreme temperatures and prevents issues with overheating that can occur with batteries. Very handy if you live in a hot climate like me, or cold environments as well.

Redtiger App Integration & GPS

The companion app from Redtiger works well, allowing me to directly view and download footage right on my smartphone. The WiFi connectivity makes accessing videos a breeze.

Having GPS built right into the F17 dash cam is super convenient. It embeds the vehicle’s speed and location directly onto the video footage. This contextual data could be very valuable if video evidence is ever needed.

G-Sensor & Loop Recording for Emergencies

One of my must-haves for any dash cam is loop recording, and the F17 delivers from that aspect. Loop recording means that video files are continuously recorded/overwritten in 5, 3, or 1 minute segments. The oldest files are automatically deleted when the memory card reaches capacity. I never have to worry about running out of storage.

The built-in G-sensor on the Redtiger F17 is a great feature. If the sensors detect sudden shaking or impact, it will automatically lock the current video segment so it doesn’t get overwritten. This made sure that my emergency recordings didn’t get saved over, review and as evidence.

Taking it all into account, the Redtiger F17 gives a ton of value while having all the features the majority of drivers need in a multi-camera dash cam system. The triple camera footage, responsive parking mode, and Redtiger dash cam app accessibility makes the F17 a premium choice while still being affordable. Based on our standard dash cam rating procedures, the Redtiger F17 gets a 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I’ve been very satisfied with the F17 and would happily recommend it to other drivers looking for the peace of mind and protection that a quality dash cam provides. Just be ready for to spend some time on the initial installation.

Beyond that minor hiccup, it’s been smooth cruising with the Redtiger F17 dash cam keeping watch over my daily road routine.
