Pruveeo D90 Dash Cam Review (2024)

After comparing features and reading initial reviews, I decided to purchase the Pruveeo D90 4 channel dash cam to put it to the test first-hand. Having used it for the past few weeks, I can confidently say it has performed very well in most areas, though there were a few negatives I experienced too.

The 4-channel recording quality provides a lot of security by capturing a 360-degree view around my vehicle. The built-in GPS, night vision, and G-sensor all seem to work seamlessly after getting set up properly.

However, I did run into some connectivity issues with trying to access footage from my phone, and the rear camera mounting options are rather limited. In this review, I’ll fully break down my real-world testing experience using the feature-packed Pruveeo D90 model over the past few weeks of ownership.

My Experience with the Pruveeo D90

Quad HD Dash Camera Recording

One of the main selling points for me on the Pruveeo D90 was its 4-channel recording capability. It features four separate 1080p cameras – front, interior, left side, and rear – all recording simultaneously in sharp full high definition. This quad view gave me complete 360 degree coverage around my vehicle.

I feel much more protected from all angles, especially when changing lanes. The footage clearly captures license plates, street signs, and other key details that could be invaluable if an accident occurs.

Takeaway: The video quality itself is very impressive with crisp and fluid 1080p across all four video feeds.

The front 150° wide angle lens does a great job reducing blindspots & helped me see more of the road. I consistently get clear, distortion-free footage even when driving at high speeds. It performed so well that the D90 ranked fairly well in our best 4-channel dash cams list. The level of detail also holds up perfectly at night. Speaking of nighttime driving, the night vision on the D90’s cameras work shockingly well.

Great Night Vision Video & Weather Performance

Some dash cams suffer from dark, glitchy footage at night, Pruveeo’s Starvis technology and F1.8 apertures allow for superb low light video. The cameras adjust automatically to varying light conditions. I can clearly make out pedestrians, street signs, and vehicle details even when driving down poorly-lit alleys or country backroads.

The same holds true in fog, rain, and other challenging weather conditions. The D90 consistently produces bright, vivid video by ratcheting up the exposure. The various lenses seem resistant to droplets and moisture as well. So despite diverse lighting and environmental factors, the D90 reliably records in sharp Full HD.

Speed Tracking & G-Sensor Loop Recording

The D90 dash cam comes equipped with integrated GPS for real-time speed and location tracking. The GPS software also gave me a detailed view of my drive using a custom-created map based on my location, pinpointing my driving events like hard braking. I’m able to pinpoint exactly when/where my devices recorded the clips. The GPS module automatically geo-tags recordings with details like latitude, longitude, date, time.

For those of you who have ever submitted detailed dash cam footage to insurance, you’ll realize how much of a game changer this is. For those of you who haven’t… most insurance companies require you to submit your cars speed and location for any dash cam video you send in. The D90 makes that SO EASY.

Another feature I loved was the loop recording because it helped me easily handle storage. Why? Because the loop recording saves video in 5-10 minute segments continuously. When the SD card fills up, the oldest unlocked files automatically get overwritten with no intervention needed.

This allows endless recording without manually clearing space. But if the G-sensor ever detects sudden impact (hard braking or collision), it automatically locks the video clip & prevents it from getting overwritten.

Streamlined Installation Process + SD card included

Installing the D90 is quick and simple too, there’s no wires to route. It comes with a sturdy suction cup mount that adheres directly to the windshield. I had the main unit secured on my windshield in under 5 minutes with no tools needed.

The kit also has extra 3M adhesive mounts if you want them but I found the suction works perfectly. It holds the camera steady in place while allowing me to make easy adjustments to the angle I want.

While most dash cams require purchasing SD cards separately, the D90 comes bundled with a sizable 128GB Class 10 MicroSD card right in the box. This allows enough storage space for hours of driving footage without needing to supply my own card.

Takeaway: Combined with the loop recording, I’ve found 128GB allows me record on a 2 week road trip without needing to offload any videos (so far).

What I Didn’t Like

While I’m largely satisfied with the Pruveeo D90, there are a few downsides worth mentioning…

The main unit is quite bulky which obstructs more of my view out of the windshield than I’d like. The triple-camera sphere and 3” display take up considerable space towards the bottom of the glass. While I was able to position it high enough to see adequately, it still blocks more view than slimmer cams.

I also ran into some intermittent connectivity issues when trying to use the Pruveeo app to view live footage or retrieve videos wirelessly. The wifi pairing process was rather inconvenient, requiring re-linking the camera to my phone each time. Even once connected, the video lagged significantly or froze altogether on multiple occasions. The reliability and range could be improved.

My other complaint is the rear camera placement limitations. The articulating mount has a flimsy adhesive pad that doesn’t hold securely inside my car. And the cable isn’t long enough to mount camera outside on my vehicle’s body without an extension. I resorted to double-sided tape which has worked so far, but more mounting accessories would be beneficial.

Lastly, there is no internal battery on the D90 cameras at all. This means there is no functionality for parking monitoring or capturing impacts in parking lots when the car is off.

Takeaway: To get parking protection, I had to hardwire the D90 to my car battery using a separate accessory kit.

Other Cool Things I Liked But Haven’t Mentioned Yet

While I already talked about the main things that made the D90 stand out to me, it has some other cool features that are worth highlighting:

• The camera automatically start recording when I turn my car on – no need to manually press record each drive.
• Playback on the dash cam screen is easy to do because of the responsive touch controls. There’s also manual tag and protect functions to lock important clips from the device itself.
• The built-in microphone provides decent quality audio capture as second-hand evidence.
• Besides the mobile app, I had the option of managing footage directly from my computer. It’s easy to hook up via USB cable for quick video exporting.
• Firmware updates have always been smooth and pain-free – I was always notified when new versions were available.
• Their tech support team has been fairly responsive when I reached out with a question.

So while it already offers a ton of functionality out of the box, the D90 dash cam has even more value-adding capabilities.

After several weeks using the Pruveeo D90 dash cam, I’m giving it a 4.25 out of 5 star rating. The quad 1080p high definition footage, ultra wide angles, and night vision capabilities combine to provide complete 360 degree coverage with sharp video quality – day or night.

The built-in GPS with animated mapping plus G-sensor locking for loop recording add functionality. And the easy install with bundled 128GB memory card make the D90 an out-of-the-box solution.

Considering the sub-$200 price point, the D90 delivers tremendous value. The only things I didn’t like were the bulky design and flaky app connectivity. So while a couple convenience issues have room for improvement, I’d still recommend the Pruveeo D90 as a complete and affordable 4-camera dash cam system.

The protection and peace of mind provided by its premium video quality and intuitive operation carry far more weight than the few compromises made to keep costs low.
