If you’re trying to make the most out of your Pruveeo dash cam, you absolutely need the accompanying smartphone app. The Pruveeo Dash Cam App is a handy tool that works with the D30, D30H, D90-4CH, and D904CH-MINI models.
Why connect to the app? It lets you see the camera view on your phone in real-time, start or stop the camera recording, and even save your videos directly to your phone storage.
But there’s a couple things you need to do to make sure everything works smoothly though. You’ll need a smartphone/tablet and a good internet connection to download the app.
How to Connect your iPhone to a Pruveeo Dash Cam

- Download the App: Start by going to the Apple App Store on your iPhone. Search for “GFG CAM” and download it.
- Prep Your Phone: Before you open the app, switch off your 4G data and Bluetooth.
- Turn on Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi: Now, head over to your Pruveeo dash cam. The way to turn on Wi-Fi might differ a bit between models, so check your cam’s manual if you’re unsure. Generally, you’ll press a Wi-Fi button or select it from a menu.
- Connect Your iPhone to the Dash Cam: Open your iPhone’s Wi-Fi settings. Look for the dash cam’s network, listed as “SSID” in the available networks. Tap on it and enter the default password, which is usually “12345678”.
- Launch the App: Go back to your home screen and tap on the “GFG CAM” app to open it.
- Start Viewing: Inside the app, tap “connect”, and you should see the dash cam’s live feed.
How to Connect your Android
- Find the App: Go to the Google Play Store on your Android device. Search for “GFGCAM” and download it.
- Ready Your Phone: Turn off your 4G data and Bluetooth to provide a clean connection process.
- Activate Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi: Switch on your Pruveeo dash cam. The Wi-Fi button might be in a different spot depending on your model, so peek at your manual if needed. Usually, it’s a dedicated button or an option in a menu.
- Link Your Android Device to the Dash Cam: Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone. You’ll see a network named “SSID” – that’s your dash cam! Tap on it and type in the default password, typically “12345678”.
- Open the App: Head back to your home screen and tap the “GFG CAM” app.
- Enjoy the View: Tap “connect” in the app, and voila! Your dash cam’s live feed should appear on your screen.
Now you have a front-row seat from your phone, no matter which device you use.
Using the App’s Features
After setting everything up you’ll realize there’s a ton of powerful features to use. So many that I can’t fit it all into this article so I’ll briefly go over my favorite ones.
Live Preview
One of the coolest features is the live preview. It’s basically your own livestream that allows you to see what your dash cam sees in real-time.
It makes it super easy to adjust your camera angles & see the difference right away. This instant feedback makes sure your dash cam is always positioned for the best footage.
Control Over Recording
You can also start or stop the recording without touching the dash cam itself. No need to mess around with the camera buttons because all you have to do is pull out your phone & you can start recording.
It’s also easy to stop recording if you want to make sure a video isn’t overwritten by loop recording.
Limitations
If you have a Pruveeo D30, the Wi-Fi function only works with resolution under 2160P. So to use your smartphone, you’ll need to set the camera to record at a resolution below its max ability.
This limit exists because higher resolutions need more processing power that the D30 doesn’t have (because it’s in-use by the other app features). You’ll have to decide if the trade-off is worth it for you because you’ll have lower quality videos but more versatility with features.
Managing Your Video Files
The best benefit is immediate access to the files saved on your dash cam. You can browse the recorded clips right from your phone, so you don’t have to take out the SD card or plug it into your computer (although you still can).
If you find a clip you want to save, download it directly to your smartphone in two seconds and get back on the road. Lets go over how you can do it easily.
Watching Recorded Videos
After successfully connecting your smartphone to the dash cam via the Pruveeo app, you can access and view your recorded videos with or without removing the camera’s SD card. Just open the dash cam app on your smartphone and navigate to the section that lists your recordings.
They’re usually displayed in chronological order with details like recording time and length. Click the video you want to look at and the app will pull the recording from the SD card storage & play it directly on your phone.
Deleting Files
To make sure your dash cam has sufficient storage for new recordings, regularly delete unnecessary files on the computer OR enable your loop recording so you don’t have to. Thankfully, the app lets to do it pretty easily:
- In the recorded videos section, find the file you want to remove.
- Select the specific video; this should prompt a menu with options related to the file.
- Tap the ‘Delete’ option. Confirm your action if prompted.
- It’ll be removed from your memory card & free up space for new ones.
Remember, once deleted, videos cannot be recovered. Make sure you back up any important files before deletion.
GPS Video Playback on PC:
If your Pruveeo dash cam has GPS embedding capability, you can view videos on your PC with speed and location data inside:
- Remove the SD card from your dash cam and insert it into your computer using an SD card reader.
- For Windows users, download the compatible video playback software from the official Pruveeo website. If you’re on MacOS, search for ‘GXPlayer’ in the Apple App Store and install it.
- Open the application, and click File > Open. Navigate to your video files on the SD card.
- Pick the video you want to watch & the app will show your real-time speed right next to it.
It’s great for keeping watch on you own driving habits. Managing your videos with the Pruveeo Dash Cam App is straightforward and efficient. Whether you’re sorting through recordings on your phone, freeing up storage, or analyzing your trips with GPS data on your PC, the app puts you in control. Regularly maintaining your video library makes sure your dash cam is always ready to record, so you won’t miss anything on the road.
