My Experience with the Wolfbox G900

My G900 Wolfbox Mirror Experience

Front and Rear Dual Perspectives

At first glance, what struck me about the Wolfbox G900 was the clear picture quality. Outfitted with a real ultra-HD 4K lens, the front dash camera records at an impressive 3840 by 2160 @ 30 FPS. Combined with the 2.5K rear view image recording, the G900 provides a comprehensive wide dynamic range view of what was happening around my vehicle.

Driving through the mountains, the G900’s high-resolution lens left me awestruck. The landscape was captured with precision, showing me my driving experience like a cinematic adventure. However, the rear camera’s field of view is a tad narrower than the front, which took a little getting used to. Despite this, the combined front and rear WDR Technology is incredible for most driving scenarios.

Not to mention that this dash cam performed up to our standards in the Texas heat, well enough to make in our best dash cam for hot weather roundup article.

Night Vision

When the sun dips below the horizon, the G900’s starlight night vision effect comes to life. Thanks to the unique dual WDR and the F1.5 large aperture, this dash cam excels in various light environments. My first night drive with the G900 was a revelation.

Takeaway: Watching footage of unlit roads doesn’t bother me anymore thanks to the starlight night vision.

Rearview Mirrors Smart Touch Screen

The G900’s mirror camera touch screen adds to the unit’s overall ease of use. This 12″ IPS screen is not just large, but also remarkably responsive, akin to using a top-end smartphone. The screen offers a high light transmittance 2.5D curved glass design, which reduces glare and ensures clear viewing even under the glaring summer sun.

Parking Monitoring for Perfect Security

A standout feature that pleasantly surprised me was the parking mode. This feature offered peace of mind every time I left my car parked overnight in unfamiliar locales. The G900 records time-lapse videos during parking mode, providing reliable evidence if any unfortunate incidents occur. Read our full post about what parking mode is for a better understanding.

The G900 performs impressively in extreme weather conditions. On a recent winter road trip to Yellowstone, despite the freezing temperatures, the G900 functioned flawlessly, thanks to its special super capacitor.

Built In Microphone

The G900’s built-in microphone is another major asset. Not all dash cams can record sound but the G900 has the ability to do so. On a memorable trip with my friends, it captured our conversation and was extremely fun for me to watch back later. It transformed the footage into a holistic, memorable journey.

Pricing vs Market

If there’s one negative, it’s the price. The Wolfbox G900 is slightly more expensive than other rearview mirror dash cams. With that being said, the quality and additional features show why it’s priced accordingly. In my opinion, the G900 offers value beyond the price tag compared to its competitors on the market.

Final Thoughts

4.5 out of 5
4.5/5

The Wolfbox G900 Rearview Mirror Dash Cam has remarkable features and reliable performance that justify it’s price. Based on my experience I’m giving the G900 a 4.5 out of 5-star rating using our standard rating criteria. With its crystal-clear image quality and intuitive touchscreen with amazing additional features, it brings together everything I look for in a dash cam.

While the G900 outperformed it’s lesser quality version, Zach’s recent Wolfbox G850 review is still worth a read if you’re still on the fence. It’s slightly cheaper but doesn’t offer as many features as the G900.

How Do We Rate Dash Cameras?

When we set out to review dash cameras, our focus is spread across several aspects:

  • Cost-to-Value Ratio (Rating scale of 0-5 stars): In this category, we measure if the product’s price corresponds to its performance and features. We contrast its video quality with other models in the same price range.
  • Ease of Use (Rating scale of 0-5 stars): This metric involves investigating the dash cam’s installation process and the ease of accessing the footage it records. We take into account factors like the intricacy involved in setting up the power cable.
  • Image Quality & Lens Excellence (Rating scale of 0-5 stars): We evaluate the quality of critical components such as the rear camera lens, SD card, and G Sensor in this category. We put the video sample under the microscope, reviewing the sharpness of the video output. We specifically look for the camera’s ability to clearly capture details like license plates and road signs.
  • Additional Features (Rating scale of 0-5 stars): We explore whether the dash cam comes with bonus features such as parking mode, integrated GPS, or radar detection for speed alerts. We evaluate the battery life and identify if there’s a need for an extra unit for hardwiring the dash cam.
