How to Connect to the Vantrue Dash Cam App

No matter which Vantrue dash cam you have, connecting it to the mobile app is a convenient way to access your dash cam’s features and footage right from your smartphone. The connection process is straightforward and nearly identical across all Vantrue dash cam models.

By hooking your Vantrue dash cam up to the mobile app, you can live stream footage, change settings on the fly, download your clips whenever you want.

Connecting to the Vantrue Dash Cam App on iOS

  1. Download the Vantrue app from the iOS App Store or scan the QR code here. Install the app & open it.
  2. On your Vantrue dash cam, Enable WiFi using the settings menu or shortcut keys (see Figure 1 below). The camera will broadcast its own WiFi network.
  3. Go to Settings -> WiFi on your iPhone. Click the Vantrue dash cam’s WiFi network name that starts with “Vantrue” or your model name.
  4. You will get asked for a Wifi password, enter the default password: 12345678.
  5. Return to the Vantrue app on your iPhone. Tap the + icon to add a new device.
  6. Select your Vantrue model and tap Confirm to connect to the WiFi source.
  7. The app will automatically find & pair with your dash cam over your WiFi as long as both devices are connected to the same network.

How to Set Up the Vantrue App on Android

Here’s how to connect an Android phone to a Vantrue dash cam:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device. Search for “Vantrue” or scan the QR code for Android and press Install.
  2. Open the Vantrue app once it finishes installing. Make sure to Allow permissions on pop-ups.
  3. On your dash cam, turn on WiFi using the menu buttons. It will start broadcasting a wireless signal.
  4. Open Settings on your Android phone and select WiFi. Choose the network name that starts with Vantrue or your dash cam model.
  5. When asked, enter the WiFi password. The default is 12345678. Press Connect when prompted.
  6. Reopen the Vantrue app on your phone. Tap the + symbol to add a device.
  7. Pick your Vantrue model then tap Confirm. Make sure both devices use the same WiFi connection.
  8. The app will find and automatically connect with the dash cam over the WiFi network.
