App Highlights

Preview Live Video & Take Photos

One feature of the Vava app is the ability to view a live video feed directly from the dash cam on your phone. The live preview starts automatically when you connect the app to your camera.

The Vava app makes capturing photos and videos simple, but not easy. Tap the camera icon to take a photo which will be saved directly to your phone’s storage. To record video, tap the video icon and tap again to stop recording. Videos will be downloaded right to the app.

Despite all this being said, we didn’t have the best experience with the viewing of clips within the apps user interface as mentioned in our Vava 2K dual dash cam review. The UI is quite clunky & isn’t great for watching videos in the app itself.

Media Gallery Management

All your captured photos and video clips are stored in the app’s media gallery for easy access. You can view, edit, and share the media with just a few clicks.

The media gallery is best for reflecting on your ride after the fact… and showing others your favorite driving moments.

Parking Mode & Emergency Recording

The Vava app has a dedicated parking mode feature that lets you configure and control parking mode settings. From the app, you can set the sensitivity of the G-Sensor that detects motion and impacts while parked.

You can also specify how long the dash cam waits before entering parking mode after you turn off the engine. The Vava app’s emergency recording feature works together with the dash cam’s G-Sensor to capture critical footage in the event of a collision or sudden movement.

Although Vava’s app features don’t enable the best parking mode for accessibility and functionality, it still helps to protect your car while it’s parked.

You can indicate the driving force needed to trigger automatic emergency recording within the app. You can also view and share any emergency videos captured during your drives or in parking mode.

More Features

Keeping the Vava dash cam updated is straightforward with the firmware update notifications in the app. The app gives you access to whatever the latest firmware is whenever you want. With the app, you’ll be able to download updates directly to your camera without even touching it.

The Vava app also has a “Path” feature. It uses the in-built GPS to basically show you your travel log. I mostly use it for tracking my work commute to & from work but it allows for things like documenting road trips & figuring out the best driving routes.

FAQ

Does the Vava dash cam record continuously?

The Vava dash cam automatically begins recording video when you start your car. It records your drives in continuous loop recordings, rewriting over the oldest footage first when the memory card is full. You can also manually stop/start recordings as needed using the Vava app.

Does the Vava dash camera use Wi-Fi?

Yes, Vava dash cams connect to your smartphone via built-in Wi-Fi. This allows you to view live footage, change settings, and download recordings wirelessly through the Vava dash cam app. The dash cam emits its own Wi-Fi signal that you connect to like any other Wi-Fi network.

Do Vava dash cams work when the car is off?

Vava dash cams have a parking mode that allows the camera to continue functioning even when your car is off. When powered by a hardwire kit or low-voltage cutoff device, the dash cam enters standby after the car ignition is turned off. If any motion or impact is detected in Parking Mode, the camera will power on to record emergency footage.
