How to Connect to the Azdome Dash Cam App

Got an Azdome dash cam? You’re about to find out how easy it is to use it with the Azdome app on your phone. One of the best things about it is how it uses WiFi to let you see your camera’s videos right on your phone, it’s super convenient.

It’s like a remote control for your dash cam. This guide applies to all the Azdome models that have wifi capability (M550, GS63H, etc.). During the process, make sure you keep your phone close to the dash cam… no more than 10 feet away in order for the WiFi connection to stay strong. Let’s dive in.

Accessing and Managing Recorded Videos

The Azdome Dash Cam App has a bunch of methods for accessing & managing the videos you’ve recorded. You’re not limited to viewing them in real-time, you can also store them for future reference or evidence.

Using the app is the most convenient for managing storage or sharing files on the go. It’s one of the main reasons the Azdome M550 is one of the leading 3-channel dash cams out right now. Here’s how to get started:

  • Access the Albums – Once connected to the Wifi, click on “Device Albums” within the app to access your dash cam’s recordings.
  • Select Your Video – Find the video you want to download. Tap on it to select, and you should see a tick on the selected video.
  • Press Download – Select the footage you want then click on the download icon in the bottom right. The app will transfer the video to your iPhone, but remember, larger files might take a bit longer to download.
  • Check Your Local Album – Once the download is complete, the video will be available in the local album on your phone. From there, you’re free to view, share, or backup the video as you please.

Directly from the Camera

The most straightforward method. If you want to quickly check what’s been recorded, you can go directly into playback mode on the camera itself. However, this can be a bit time-consuming, especially if there’s a lot of footage to sift through. Use our video playback calculator to see how much time you can save with a higher watch speed.

Using a Computer

For a faster and more comprehensive option, take out the micro SD card from the dash cam and use a card reader to access the files on a computer. This method is ideal for backing up footage or for instances where you need a larger screen to analyze videos more clearly, or if you want to format the SD card.

Troubleshooting FAQ

What can I do if the Azdome app live video doesn’t work?

1. If the live video feed isn’t loading, check is your phone’s cellular data. The app requires a direct connection to the dash cam via WiFi, not data.
2. For the app to function correctly, particularly with the latest iOS systems, it needs to have local network permissions enabled. You can check this in your phone’s settings under the Azdome app permissions.
3. Sometimes, the simplest solution is to restart the app or even the dash cam itself. This action can refresh the connection and resolve any minor glitches.

Why is my phone slower when the Azdome app is open?

The reason likely revolves around either: the camera controls or your internet access. When your phone is connected to the dash cam via WiFi, certain functionalities on the camera itself might be limited. This design is intentional to prevent operation conflicts between the app and the dash cam. If you need to adjust settings or control the camera manually, it’s best to disconnect from WiFi first. Your phone can’t access the internet while it’s connected to the dash cam’s WiFi since the camera isn’t an internet source. Be aware that this will restrict any online activities on your phone until you disconnect from the camera’s WiFi.

What can I do if the Azdome app keeps disconnecting?

If you’re disconnecting all the time, remember that proximity matters. The WiFi has limited range, about 10 feet. If you’re having trouble connecting, make sure you’re within this range with as few obstructions as possible. If you’re directly next to your dash cam you should check for interference. Other electronic devices or WiFi networks closeby could be interfering with your connection.
