Check live footage and auto-update your dash cam with the latest features using the 70mai dash cam app. It can even be used to download important pictures, video and more right on your phone. No matter which 70mai dash cam model you have, you’ll be able to connect to the app.
All you need is your phone and a good internet connection. Also, make sure to place your dash cam where it has a clear view of the sky for optimal GPS signaling. But more on that later, let’s get you hooked up with the app first.
Connecting to the 70mai App on iOS
- Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for “70mai” and download the app.
- Either create your 70mai account or log in if you already have one.
- Bring your iPhone within 10 feet of your dash cam.
- On your iPhone, open Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Click your 70mai dash cam hotspot and enter the default password: 12345678.
How to find your device name: Your dash cam will show as a network named after your camera model. For example if you have a 70mai M300, the hotspot will be named 70mai_M300_XXXX (with XXXX being the product number found on the back of your dash cam). - Follow the on-screen instructions to finish connecting.

While the steps will be similar to the iPhone, pay attention to the differences mentioned below (if you have an Android).
Connecting to the 70mai App on Android
- Go to the Google Play Store, search for “70mai,” and install the app.
- Open the Android app and create an account or login.
- Turn on your dash cam and bring your phone within 10 feet of it.
- Open your Wi-Fi Settings on your Android.
- Locate your dash cams network and type the default password: 12345678.
Finding your Wi-Fi name: Similar to the iPhone, if you have a 70mai M300 dash cam your hotspot will be named 70mai_M300_XXXX (with XXXX being the product number found on the back of your dash cam). It’s dependent on your cameras model. - Connect and follow the screen prompts to finish the process.
Now you’re hooked up, you can watch live videos & watch historical footage from your iPhone & Android devices.
Getting the most out of your app
Using a 70mai smart dash cam without the accompanying app is like owning a smartphone but only using it for phone calls. Your dash cam’s location tracking relies on its built-in GPS which isn’t always accurate.
In the app you can change your settings to have your camera start recording when the engine turns on or when motion’s detected.
Some 70mai dash cam models come with a rotating lens. The 70mai app has a lens calibration feature to make sure your cameras view is lined up well before heading out on a road trip.
You can change the direction of the lens, allowing it to capture footage from different angles. Even though you can view dash cam footage from an SD card, watching directly inside the 70mai dash cam app is quicker & significantly easier to do as well.
The app transforms your dash cam from a recording device to an interactive & customizable device. I think pairing your dash cam with the 70mai app is a must for the full 70mai experience.
Voice Control Commands
Driving distracted is a big no-no & that’s where voice control shines. It isn’t just convenient but a safety feature every driver will appreciate. Your 70mai dash cam can recognize phrases, giving you the ability to control it without touching it. My most used commands are:
- Record Audio: Starts or stops audio recording, useful during a traffic stop or any other time a conversation needs to be recorded.
- Take Photo: Instantly captures a shot of your current view. Perfect for beautiful scenery or the getting pictures of an accident.
- Enable Hotspot: Activates the dash cam’s Wi-Fi hotspot which is great for when you need to connect your phone & access footage on the go.
- Shoot Emergency Video: An irreplaceable voice control that locks the video & doesn’t let it get overwritten, even if you run out of space.
- Shoot Vlog: Fun command for content creators or those who love documenting their road trips.
Voice commands only work when the dash cam is recording, not during other modes like parking surveillance or during an update.
Other Features
- OTA Device Software Upgrades: Over-the-Air (OTA) updates is a firmware update and download update package wirelessly through your phone’s internet.
- Live View: Get realtime image preview by seeing what your dash cam sees, right on your smartphone. This is especially useful when aligning your dash camera & monitoring your car in a sketchy area.
- Tire Pressure Sensor: View live data about your vehicle’s tire pressure data.
- Watch Historical Footage: The app allows you to access recorded footage anytime, right from your cell phone.
The mobile phone software used by 70mai makes the entire user experience better, in my opinion. By staying connected to a 70mai smart dash cam, you have real-time access to visual details and a comprehensive view of your driving route.
