What I Liked
Dual Lens Dash Cam
The feature that stood out most to me is the 2-Channel recording. Both the front and inside camera simultaneously capture footage clear enough that I was able to read passing license plates.Â
When I watched back my first recording, I was amazed to see two side-by-side videos of everything happening both inside and outside my vehicle. Two high-definition cameras working together to give me crystal clear footage of the road & car interior.Â
It’s not often I find a dash cam with a rear-facing camera that doesn’t miss out on quality of the inside passenger cabin.Â
Vantrue N2 Pro has an equally impressive video feed from the rear camera that gave me a dual lens front and rear camera experience. It’s one thing to provide quality HD footage, but another to offer the detail needed to easily pick up license plates.Â
Takeaway: In my opinion, these features alone set the Vantrue N2 Pro apart from other dash cams in this price range.
Handy Loop Recording
The Vantrue N2 Pro also comes with loop recording… I never ran out of storage space. The N2 pro dash cam automatically deleted my oldest (unimportant) footage when my memory card was full.Â
Continuous recording can be a real lifesaver when you least expect it, which is why it’s a personal requirement in any dash cam I buy. What is Loop Recording?
Parking Mode Protection
One of my favorite features of the N2 Pro is the parking mode on dual cameras. This dash cam doesn’t just work when your car is on the move.Â
When I was parked, it entered a standby mode and started recording when sudden movement was detected. This isn’t important for some drivers, but it gave me an extra sense of security for my parked car.
Extra Sensitive G-Sensor
The Vantrue N2 Pro utilize Sony sensors to automatically lock the current video in an accident. It makes sure important footage isn’t overwritten so any evidence remains intact.Â
Ideally I want a G-Sensor to be as sensitive as possible, so my footage is auto saves whenever I brake hard – the N2 Pro surpassed my standards in this aspect.
Multiple Mounting Options
When it comes to installation, the N2 Pro impressed me with its secure suction cup mount. Other than being super easy for me to install, it also had an optional GPS mount which allowed me to track my speed.
What I Didn't Like
Unreliable Infrared Night Vision
I noticed my N2 Pro’s night vision sometimes struggled in complete darkness. By this I mean, when I was driving at night I ran into issues when passing under a bright street light. The actual video quality wouldn’t change, but the contrast & exposure took a bit to adjust to the dark right after.
It’s not a deal-breaker for me, could just use some improvement. I only noticed it when passing through light and dark areas like under street lamps on the highway.Â
Takeaway: Considering the overall performance & the dash cams features, this minor drawback is easy for me to overlook.
Other Dash Cams From Vantrue
Vantrue has a plenty of other cameras if the N2 Pro isn’t exactly what you’re looking for:
An upgrade from N2 Pro, the Vantrue N4 dash cam is a three-way camera capturing the front, interior, and rear of your vehicle with 1440P & 1080P at 30 FPS.
The N4 is armed with a Sony CMOS sensor for enhanced low light exposure on the rear cameras. Resilient against harsh weather conditions, the N4 uses a supercapacitor for power & longevity in any weather condition.
This dual dash cam has front 4K and rear 1080P recording to ensure you don’t miss anything on the road. It comes equipped with collision detection for enhanced vehicle security.
The external GPS traces your route and speed, which can be viewed via the Vantrue app. With WiFi connectivity better than wifi dash cam pro, the X4S allows easy control through the app, including the rearview camera, and convenient file transfers.
S1 is another dual 1080P dash cam offering front and rear recording at 30 FPS. Its front-facing camera employs Sony Vision technology for capturing clear images even in dimly lit conditions. It uses HDR to adjust the exposure for better clarity.
The S1 uses a Super Capacitor to power the battery for continuous recording and supports loop recording time-lapse. It accommodates up to a 256GB microSD card, providing plenty of storage for your car travel.
The N1 Pro provides 1080P HD recording, even in low light conditions, with its advanced Sony Sensor IMX323. It offers a parking monitor in the front-facing camera and collision detection in the rear for security when your vehicle is unattended.
The N1 Pro supports seamless loop recording, includes a G-sensor for automatic accident footage lock, and is heat-resistant. It also has a GPS mount function for tracking your route and a time-lapse feature for efficient storage of extended videos.
Despite its compact size, the E1 packs a punch with a high-quality Sony CMOS sensor delivering crisp 2592 by 1944P footage. Its HDR Technology and night vision ensure detailed capture, even in darkness. It’s discreet which is good if you’re worried about people stealing your dash cam.
The built-in 2.4G WiFi enables connection to a mobile app for live video viewing and sharing. It also includes GPS for routing and hands-free voice control for safer driving.Â
Final Verdict
I was pleasantly surprised. After spending considerable time with the Vantrue N2 Pro Dual 1080p dash cam, I have no hesitation giving it a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. The dual 1080p dash cam, coupled with superior interior camera quality, is a great feature that raises the bar for my dash cam expectations.
The Vantrue N2 Pro dash cam gave me peace of mind on my long drives. The parking mode on dual cameras and the sensitive G-sensor provided me with an additional layer of ease, while the GPS mount made navigation a breeze.Â
I loved getting to use an affordable heat resistant dash cam… but the real surprise the feature that left me genuinely impressed was the superior video quality. Being able to pick up license plates with such clarity and precision was an unexpected bonus that elevates the Vantrue N2 Pro from a good dash cam to a great one.
Based on my experience, the N2 Pro is the perfect dash cam for any seasoned driver, rideshare and taxi drivers looking for a relatively affordable option.
Despite the minor hiccup with night vision, Vantrue N2 Pro brings so much to the table in terms of functionality so it’s easy to see past it. That concludes my Vantrue N2 Pro Review, here are some frequently asked questions from customers considering this dual 1080p dash cam.
